These sangeet night ideas cover decor, performances, music and the rentals that make the evening flow.
The sangeet is often the most fun night of a South Asian wedding — family performances, dancing and celebration before the big day. These sangeet ideas help you plan the decor, entertainment and rentals for a memorable night in Dallas, Frisco, Plano, Prosper and McKinney.
Stage and Dance Floor
Performances are the heart of the sangeet, so the stage matters.
- A 16×16 or 16×24 stage works for group dances.
- Add stairs, skirting and a backdrop.
- Place a large dance floor directly in front of the stage for open dancing afterward.
Sound, Lighting and Screens
- A DJ with a Bollywood, bhangra and Top 40 mix
- Wireless microphones for speeches and the emcee
- Moving-head and LED stage lights
- An LED wall or projector screen for slideshows and live video
- Cold spark machines for grand entrances (check venue rules)
Sangeet Decoration Ideas
- Marigold garlands and hanging florals
- Jewel-tone linens — fuchsia, emerald, royal blue and gold
- Lounge seating and floor cushions
- Umbrella, lantern or string-light ceilings
- A photo wall — our decor team can design it
Performance Planning Tips
- Collect every performance’s music file one week ahead.
- Keep each performance to about 3–5 minutes.
- Run a tech rehearsal with the DJ.
- Assign an emcee to keep the program moving.
Guest Experience
- Chaat stations and dinner catering
- 360 video booth near the dance floor
- Mehendi artists if combining mehendi and sangeet
- Valet parking for large guest lists
